X Games: Britain’s Zoe Atkin claims Ski Superpipe silver as Gu wins in Colorado

Britain’s Zoe Atkin won an X Games silver medal in Ski Superpipe in Aspen, Colorado.

The US-born 21-year-old fell on her final run, with the gold medal going to Olympic champion Eileen Gu of China, while Canada’s Amy Fraser won bronze.

Atkin won gold in the event last year but Gu, who missed the 2023 competition through injury, dominated on Saturday despite competing with an injured hip.

Her winning score of 95.66 on her third run surpassed Atkin’s best of 90.66.

„This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve had to do,“ said Gu, who like Atkin was also born in the United States.

„I’ve never skied with pain like this before. I can barely walk right now, honestly. But I think it’s really a testament to how much I love the sport.“
