Following this year’s dramatic fog-covered stage up to the Col du Tourmalet, the Tour de France Femmes in 2024 is likely to see its outcome determined by a mountain finish in L’Alpe d’Huez. At least, that’s what a report in the French newspaper Dauphiné Libéré hints at. According to the report, the next season’s Tour de France, reduced to seven stages from eight, is set to conclude in the renowned ski resort.
On the penultimate day of the Tour, a mountain stage is to lead to Le Grand-Bornand, where Annemiek van Vleuten had already won La Course by Le Tour in 2018, the women’s event of the Tour de France, which was still held as a one-day race at the time. The final stage then leads to L’Alpe d’Huez, it is said. So far, there is no talk of a guest appearance by the men at the famous 21 hairpin bends next July.
The starting signal for the 3rd Tour de France Femmes will be given on August 12 in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
